Non-living conditions which influence plants or animals in the ecosystem.
Sun
Important to plants. The sun helps with Photosynthesis in plants. By being able to do Photosynthesis the plants can live out their lives. Photosynthesis creates glucose which helps plants survive and in turn the glucose that plants have, is received by other living things when they eat the plants.
Water
Plants and Animals both being made mostly of water need water to survive. Besides quenching thirst water is needed to preform all the chemical reactions in all living things.
Air
Air is very important to all organisms. It contains essential gases such as oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen. Oxygen is important for animals to survive. Cells make food into energy but to do this the cells need oxygen. Also carbon dioxide is important for plants to survive and carry out Photosynthesis. Air also contains nitrogen that bacteria use to survive. The bacteria turns the nitrogen into a usable form that they could use to live.
Soil
Soil is important for plants and other producers that grow in it. The soil provides nutrients and water to help these plants survive. By these plants being able to grow they give food to animals and other consumers so that they will be able to survive.
